Sting Adds to Eccentric Talents
As a rock star, Sting is like the Renaissance Man of the breed. Whether it is environmental guru, tantric sex practitioner, or (above), now he has a new interest: tightrope walking. On , Sting describes his adoration for tightrope phenom Phillipe Petit (he who crossed the Twin Towers and has a documentary in the theaters on his accomplishments, ), and how he has his own tightrope to practice on, across his garden in England. Sting comments:
Everything I know about wire walking, Philippe taught me.
It's nice to have that kind of leisure time, isn't it?
You can catch a recent Phillipe Petit act, below, in NYC's Washington Square Park in 2005.
Now imagine Sting doing that. Perhaps he can open up with that on tour with The Police?
In the meantime, you can see Sting and a host of others (Feist, Billy Joel, etc.) at for the Rainforest Foundation Fund Benefit Concert on May 8th in NYC. Tix prices are steep ($150 for cheap seats) but it is for a good cause.
If you can't make it (maybe you're busy tightroping) you can donate at
